Nightingale is an unprecedented initiative that connects researchers with world-class medical data and computing power to accelerate medical knowledge discovery. We focus on crucial unsolved medical problems, improving health equity, researcher diversity, and easy access to data and computing.
Nightingale's mission involves pioneering work in building partnerships across healthcare institutions, obtaining legal agreements for data sets, building and operating a reliable and scalable platform, sustaining large amounts of data, and supporting end-user compute capacity.
We are supported by the generosity of foundations and funding agencies including Schmidt Futures, Ken C. Griffin Philanthropy Fund, Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, Patrick McGovern Foundation, Lacuna Fund, National Bureau of Economic Research, and the National Institutes of Health.
Nightingale is a non-profit initiative hosted within the University of Chicago, an institute of higher education and a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
